Self-reflection writing program
Part one
I am impressed when I hear someone speaking with confidence and clear pronunciation. Additionally, I admire individuals who use a rich vocabulary and effectively convey their ideas.
To communicate better in English, I could focus on improving my fluency by practicing speaking more often. I could also work on enhancing my listening skills to better understand different accents and speech patterns.
In the past, I've struggled with understanding complex idioms, grasping subtle nuances, and maintaining consistent grammar usage when learning and using English.
The biggest challenges of using English in university classes could include participating in discussions, comprehending advanced academic texts, and presenting my ideas clearly in written assignments.
The first time I talk to professors in English, I imagine feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. I might be anxious about expressing myself accurately and comprehending their responses.
Over the next few weeks, I should focus on improving my conversational English and enhancing my vocabulary. In the next few months, I should work on refining my academic writing skills and strengthening my ability to comprehend complex texts.
I'll know my English study is helping me make progress when I find myself more at ease during class discussions, better able to follow lectures, and producing well-structured essays with less effort.
Better English will make my university experience more enjoyable by allowing me to fully engage in class discussions, build meaningful relationships with professors and classmates, and explore a wider range of academic resources.
Poor English could ruin my university experience by hindering my ability to comprehend lectures, effectively participate in group projects, and fully benefit from the educational opportunities presented.
I worry the most about not being able to express myself clearly and falling behind in class due to language barriers when studying in English full time at university.
I am excited about the prospect of improving my language skills and gaining access to a broader pool of knowledge and perspectives by studying in English full time at university.
In my first semester at university, I would like to develop the habit of reviewing my class notes regularly, seeking help from professors or language tutors when needed, and dedicating focused time each day to language practice. These habits matter to me because they will lay a strong foundation for my overall academic success.
To ensure meaningful effort and avoid wasting time while studying, I will set specific goals for each study session, eliminate distractions, and actively engage with the material through summarization and self-testing.
During my leisure time, I will make sure it is meaningful by engaging in activities that contribute to my personal growth and well-being, such as reading English literature, watching English movies, and practicing mindfulness.
I will strike a balance between study and leisure time by creating a structured schedule that allocates specific hours for each activity. I will prioritize self-care and ensure that I have dedicated time for relaxation and pursuing my interests. This balance will prevent burnout and allow me to enjoy both aspects of my life.
